DEAN'S MESSAGE

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to NIBM (National Institute of Bank Management), Pune. NIBM was established in 1969 by the Reserve Bank of India. It is an autonomous, apex Academic Institution in the niche domain of banking and finance. NIBM is governed by a Board, its highest policy-making body and, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the Chairman of the Governing Board. The Institute is actively engaged in Training/ Skill development of senior executives of banks; Education to groom new generation managers; Research and Consulting support to the banking and financial sector. We are offering a two-year AICTE approved post-graduate programme in banking and financial services - PGDM (B&FS).

NIBM has evolved certain methods of learning and problem-solving approaches. The Faculty consists of academicians and practicing bankers who specialize in different functional areas like Strategic Planning, Marketing and Control; Finance & Risk Management; Human Resource Management; Information Technology; Money and International Banking and Finance; Rural Finance and Development. Research and Publications by faculty members aim to introduce global best practices in the Indian banking industry. The articles and books written by faculty in the area of banking and finance are widely disseminated by reputed publishers. The institute has conducted many action research projects with reputed organizations. The PGDM programme is particularly rigorous and NIBM’s 7:1 student-faculty ratio and interface with practicing bankers who visit the campus regularly helps ensure the right inputs for the students. The pedagogy focuses on strengthening students’ understanding of management concepts and practices through classroom lectures, case studies, hands-on exercises, industry interaction and summer internship. Our strong alumni network is spread across the financial sector in India and abroad. Many of them have very senior positions in commercial banks, multilateral financial institutions, consulting firms, rating agencies etc.

The PGDM students are well equipped with latest banking & finance knowledge and quantitative aptitudes. The internship assignments provide opportunities to students to work with banks and financial institutions to thrive their knowledge and skills. During the project, students actively participate in learning important issues related to banking operations and garner skills such as leadership, problem-solving, and project management.
